New York Times: A lawyer’s evolution, mirroring the law’s

Paul Smith, the lawyer for Lawrence v. Texas, shares his journey fighting for marriage equality and commends today’s advocates for their courageous work in a New York Times profile.

Mr. Smith says that since then, “they have done such a magnificent job of public relations around the case that they have helped change the popular culture.” Along with President Obama’s public support of same-sex marriage, he said, “you have a whole different world. It’s harder for us to imagine losing on the merits, flat-out losing on the rights to same-sex marriage, than it was four years ago.”
