The moment we have been fighting for has finally arrived. The U.S. Supreme Court just announced that they will hear our federal constitutional challenge to California’s Proposition 8.

Here’s what happened when Prop. 8 was put on trial: We had 17 witnesses, they had only 2. And when witnesses raise their right hand, they swear to tell the whole truth, even their own witness supported our case.

At the core of the 2010 Federal District Court trial of Prop. 8 was not only the expert testimony from the world’s leading authorities in history, economics, and social sciences, but also the moving stories of AFER’s plaintiffs, Paul Katami & Jeff Zarrillo and Kris Perry & Sandy Stier.

By the end of next year, over 200 actresses including Tony and Emmy-nominees Christine Lahti, Ellen Barkin and Jamie Lee Curtis, high school seniors, and theater professors will have portrayed the couple.

Today marks the two-year anniversary of the District Court decision that ruled Prop. 8 unconstitutional. It’s easy to forget how historic the ruling is. Two years is too long to wait for something that is so obvious and inevitable.
